The goal of diabetes treatment is the prevention of complications while maintaining quality of life.
Of crucial importance for the respective therapeutic strategy are the patient's wishes, his/her quality of life, as well as age and psychosocial status. Therefore, an individual therapeutic goal must be established and implemented for every patient. Important components of therapy include educational sessions about diabetes, non-drug measures such as exercise and weight management, drug therapy, intensified insulin therapy or insulin pump therapy.
Since 1985, the clinic has been offering structured educational sessions for persons with type 1 and type 2 diabetes as well as the functional insulin therapy (FIT) as part of intensified insulin therapy. We also care for and offer these sessions to insulin pump carriers, youths and pregnant diabetic women.
In a personal atmosphere, the patients are given factual information and practical advice for continuing their therapy and living their lives under their own responsibility. These services especially contribute to strengthen the patients’ will of not allowing the disease and its consequences to dominate their lives. Instead, they learn to live with it and master it.
Thanks to the private practice specializing in diabetology and located within the clinic, continuous care of outpatients is possible.
