Emergency and Intensive Care Medicine
The emergency room and intensive care unit is equipped with the latest technology.
The clinic has an easily accessible shock room where emergency patients are immediately treated with all common methods of emergency medicine.
The intensive care unit consists of an intensive care area with seven beds and a monitoring area (intermediate care) with seven beds as well - all of them connected to a centralized monitoring station with arrhythmia surveillance. This is the place where diseases needing intensive care, life-threatening diseases and internal medicine emergencies (especially cardiovascular diseases) are treated.
The acute heart attack patient is treated initially in the intensive care unit, subsequently undergoes an emergency cardiac catheter examination before follow-up treatment.
Acute forms or heart weakness can be bridged with an inserted balloon pump (intra-aortal counterpulsation).
Treatment of acute strokes takes place in the stroke unit with the help of an interdisciplinary team of internists, cardiologists and neurologists as well as specially trained nursing staff and therapists (activating care, physical early rehabilitation, speech therapy, ergotherapy). In the suitable stroke patients, the brain clot can be disintegrated with lysis therapy.
