Nephrology and Dialysis

The emphasis is on the diagnosis and therapy of kidney diseases and high blood pressure.

24-hour blood pressure measurement
Ultrasound of the kidney and lower urinary tract
Renal vessel ultrasound with color Doppler and duplex
Angiography of the renal arteries
Urine flow measurements
Laboratory chemistry, radiology and nuclear medicine functional tests
Kidney biopsy
Kidney transplant preparations and follow-up care

Apart from treating basic kidney disease, an important diagnostic goal is the early detection and treatment of the accompanying symptoms of renal insufficiency such as renal anemia, renal osteopathy, forms of hyperparathyroidism and hypertension with all their effects on the cardiovascular system.

The core of the Nephrology Department is the dialysis ward, located in the large and bright rooms of the ground floor. Its 16 dialysis treatment places overlooking the park are available to patients with chronic kidney insufficiency. The department's most advanced equipment brings the premises up to date. At all times, the treatment using various dialysis procedures takes the patient's individual needs into account. A nephrologist and his/her highly competent and experienced team are always present. To ensure a high degree of comfort during the procedure (which takes several hours), we have special dialysis beds.

Acute dialyses can be carried out in the intensive care unit at any time, but there is also the option of securing a long-term dialysis treatment free of complications through the implantation of a Derner catheter. When the latter is no longer needed, there is naturally the option of removing this special catheter. HCV-positive and HBs-AG-positive patients are treated separately with their own machines. The crucial advantage of this dialysis ward within a hospital is that the diagnostic and therapeutic options of an emergency hospital are available at all times.
